There is something to be said for traveling in the “Off Season” …  If you don’t like huge crowds of people and elevated “tourist” prices … If you just want to relax and explore without competition.. Try traveling before the hordes arrive.. or after they leave..

This was the beach near our hotel in Barcelona..a few people, the water was a little chilly in mid March, but the weather was magnificient and there was almost noone in sight up and down the beach.

The same could be said for the city.  There were alot of people, Barcelona is a large metropolitan area, but not overly so.. walking tours were easier.. public transportation was less crowded and most prices were lower than expected..

So avoid the crowds and act like a local..
